Came in with chronic lower back pain after years of office work. Dr. Patel actually listened, ran a proper assessment, and built a plan around my schedule. Six weeks in and I'm sleeping through the night again. The clinic itself is calm and welcoming.

Tore my ACL in a soccer game and was told my season was over. Tanvir built me a return-to-play programme that pushed but never broke me. Back on the pitch — stronger than before. Honest, expert, no upsell. Cannot recommend enough.

Sciatica had me dreading every car ride. Dr. Reid was the first person to actually find the root issue and explain it in plain language. Three weeks of treatment and I'm back to long drives without flinching. Direct insurance billing was a nice bonus.

Frozen shoulder had me unable to reach overhead for over a year. Fereshteh ran a proper differential and got me on a manual-therapy plus loading plan. Range of motion is back to within five degrees of my good side. Real expertise, no rushed sessions.

Post-partum pelvic and lower back pain — felt dismissed everywhere else. Gary took the time to actually map what was going on and built a programme around being a new mom. I can lift my baby pain-free again. Genuinely changed my year.

Knee replacement at 58 — surgeon recommended Physio2Health and I'm grateful. Properly graded loading, weekly check-ins, and an honest conversation about timelines. Walking 5 km comfortably eight weeks in. Best money I've ever spent on my body.

What is manual osteopathy?

Whole-body manual technique, calibrated to where your body is restricted.

Manual osteopathy is a hands-on, whole-body approach that uses gentle mobilization, soft-tissue work, and articular technique to restore movement and relieve pain. At Physio2Health, Bikramjit Singh assesses how your joints, muscles and fascia move together — then treats the underlying restriction, not just the painful spot.

  • Hands-on care. Manual therapy, dry needling, and modalities tailored to your assessment — not a one-size protocol.
  • A real plan. Exercise prescription, progress markers, and honest timelines you can actually follow.
  • Direct insurance billing. We bill most major plans on your behalf, so you can focus on recovery, not paperwork.

Osteopathy FAQ

The questions our Richmond Hill patients ask most.

Straight answers — no jargon, no upsell.

What is manual osteopathy?

Manual osteopathy is a hands-on, whole-body therapy that uses gentle mobilisation of muscles, joints, fascia and the visceral system to restore the body's natural alignment and circulation. Rather than chasing pain at the site, your osteopath looks at how restrictions in one area create compensation elsewhere — and treats the chain of cause, not just the symptom.

How does osteopathy differ from physiotherapy and chiropractic?

Physiotherapy emphasises rehab exercise and progressive loading; chiropractic focuses on spinal and joint adjustments. Osteopathy sits between the two — it's almost entirely hands-on, slower and more sustained, and treats the body as one interconnected unit including soft tissue, fascia, and even organ mobility. Many of our patients combine osteopathy with one of the others for a more complete approach.

Is manual osteopathy gentle or forceful?

It's predominantly gentle. Most techniques are slow, sustained pressure — myofascial release, cranial work, visceral mobilisation, and articulation of joints within their natural range. There are no sudden cracks or thrust adjustments. Many patients describe it as deeply relaxing, almost like a therapeutic, clinical massage.

What conditions does osteopathy treat?

Common cases include chronic back and neck pain, headaches and migraines, TMJ dysfunction, postural strain from desk work, sports injuries that haven't fully resolved, digestive complaints, breathing restrictions, and post-surgical scar tissue. It's also widely used by patients dealing with stress-driven body tension and post-concussion symptoms.

How long is an osteopathy session?

Initial assessments run a full 60 minutes — health history, postural and movement screening, then a first treatment. Follow-up sessions are typically 45 to 60 minutes because the techniques are slow and sustained. We never double-book, so the full appointment is yours.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients notice change within 2 to 4 sessions. Chronic complaints that have been around for years typically need 6 to 10 sessions across a couple of months before tapering. Your osteopath gives an honest estimate at the end of the first visit and reviews progress regularly. We never stretch a plan to fill the calendar.

What should I expect on my first visit?

A detailed health history, then a hands-on assessment of posture, breathing, joint mobility and tissue quality from head to feet. Your osteopath explains what they find and which areas they want to work on, and treatment begins in the same appointment. You'll leave with a clear picture of what's driving the issue and a plan to address it.

Do I need a referral or is it covered by insurance?

No referral is needed. Most extended-health plans in Canada cover manual osteopathy as a separate benefit category, and we direct-bill Manulife, Sun Life, Canada Life, Green Shield, Desjardins and others. We confirm your coverage before the appointment so there are no surprises at the desk.

Can I combine osteopathy with other care?

Absolutely — osteopathy works very well alongside physiotherapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, and massage therapy. It tends to complement rather than compete: physio rebuilds strength, chiro mobilises joints, and osteopathy unwinds the soft-tissue and fascial restrictions in between. Our practitioners share notes so the plans support each other.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Loose, comfortable clothing you can move in — light athletic wear is ideal. Some techniques need direct skin contact, so we work around clothing using draping; you can also change into a gown if you prefer. Private treatment rooms throughout the clinic.

Is osteopathy safe for children, seniors and pregnancy?

Yes — osteopathy is one of the gentlest manual therapies available and is widely used across every life stage. We treat infants for feeding and sleep issues, school-age children for postural concerns, pregnant patients for back and pelvic pain, and seniors managing osteoarthritis and mobility. Technique pressure is always matched to the patient in front of us.

How soon will I feel results?

Many patients feel lighter and more mobile right off the table, with the full effect settling in over the next 24 to 72 hours as the body integrates the changes. A mild "reset" feeling — slight fatigue, occasionally a dull ache — for a day afterwards is normal. By the third session most patients can see a meaningful shift in their original complaint.
