Came in with chronic lower back pain after years of office work. Dr. Patel actually listened, ran a proper assessment, and built a plan around my schedule. Six weeks in and I'm sleeping through the night again. The clinic itself is calm and welcoming.

Tore my ACL in a soccer game and was told my season was over. Tanvir built me a return-to-play programme that pushed but never broke me. Back on the pitch — stronger than before. Honest, expert, no upsell. Cannot recommend enough.

Sciatica had me dreading every car ride. Dr. Reid was the first person to actually find the root issue and explain it in plain language. Three weeks of treatment and I'm back to long drives without flinching. Direct insurance billing was a nice bonus.

Frozen shoulder had me unable to reach overhead for over a year. Fereshteh ran a proper differential and got me on a manual-therapy plus loading plan. Range of motion is back to within five degrees of my good side. Real expertise, no rushed sessions.

Post-partum pelvic and lower back pain — felt dismissed everywhere else. Gary took the time to actually map what was going on and built a programme around being a new mom. I can lift my baby pain-free again. Genuinely changed my year.

Knee replacement at 58 — surgeon recommended Physio2Health and I'm grateful. Properly graded loading, weekly check-ins, and an honest conversation about timelines. Walking 5 km comfortably eight weeks in. Best money I've ever spent on my body.

What is chiropractic care?

Spinal adjustments built around how you move and where you hurt.

Chiropractic care uses controlled, hands-on adjustments to restore joint movement, ease pain, and improve how your body functions day to day. At Physio2Health, Dr. Marsha Black assesses your spine and full kinetic chain before any technique is applied — so every adjustment is intentional.

  • Hands-on care. Manual therapy, dry needling, and modalities tailored to your assessment — not a one-size protocol.
  • A real plan. Exercise prescription, progress markers, and honest timelines you can actually follow.
  • Direct insurance billing. We bill most major plans on your behalf, so you can focus on recovery, not paperwork.

Chiropractic FAQ

The questions our Richmond Hill patients ask most.

Straight answers — no jargon, no upsell.

What does a chiropractor do?

Chiropractors diagnose and treat issues of the spine, joints, and surrounding muscles, primarily through hands-on adjustments, soft-tissue work, and movement-based rehab. The goal is to restore proper joint motion, relieve nerve irritation, and reduce pain. Your chiropractor also assesses posture, gait, and biomechanics — and prescribes exercises so changes hold between visits.

Is chiropractic safe?

Chiropractic care is well-researched and considered very safe when delivered by a registered practitioner. Every patient at Physio2Health gets a full assessment first — we screen for contraindications and tailor the technique to what your body needs, from very gentle mobilisations to traditional adjustments. We'll never adjust an area we haven't examined.

Do adjustments hurt?

Most patients describe an adjustment as a quick release of pressure rather than pain — often followed by an immediate sense of relief. The audible "pop" is harmless gas releasing from the joint capsule, not bones cracking. Mild soreness for 24 hours afterwards is normal, similar to how a new workout feels.

How is chiropractic different from physiotherapy?

Chiropractic focuses primarily on spinal and joint adjustments to restore alignment and relieve nerve-related pain. Physiotherapy leans more toward soft-tissue manual therapy, structured exercise, and longer-term rehab planning. They're complementary, not competing — many of our patients see both, and our practitioners share notes so the plans support each other.

How many visits will I need?

Most acute issues respond within 4 to 6 visits. Longer-standing problems like chronic low-back pain or recurring headaches typically need 6 to 12 visits before tapering down. We give an honest estimate after your first assessment and review progress every few sessions — we don't sell long-term contracts or unlimited packages.

What conditions does chiropractic treat?

The most common are low-back pain, neck pain, sciatica, tension headaches and migraines, shoulder and hip stiffness, postural strain from desk work, and sports-related joint issues. Many patients also come in for maintenance care after a flare-up has settled. If you're unsure whether your concern is a fit, ask during your assessment.

What is a gait analysis and who needs one?

A gait analysis is a structured assessment of how you walk and run — looking at foot strike, arch behaviour, knee tracking, hip stability, and spinal alignment. It's especially useful for people with recurring knee, hip, or foot pain, runners and athletes, and anyone considering custom orthotics. It tells us whether the problem is local or whether something further up or down the chain is driving it.

Are custom orthotics worth it?

For the right person, yes — they're an excellent tool for foot pain, plantar fasciitis, knee tracking issues, and certain hip and back complaints driven by foot mechanics. They aren't a solution for everyone. We only recommend orthotics if your gait analysis clearly supports it, and most extended-health plans cover them with the right paperwork.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable, loose clothing you can move in — athletic wear is ideal. If you're being assessed for a hip, knee or ankle issue, shorts make examination easier. For a gait analysis, bring or wear the shoes you walk and run in most. We have private treatment rooms and gowns if you'd prefer.

Do I need a referral or is it covered by insurance?

No referral is needed — chiropractic is a direct-access regulated profession in Ontario. Most extended-health plans include chiropractic coverage, and we direct-bill Manulife, Sun Life, Canada Life, Green Shield, Desjardins and more. Chiropractic is also covered under WSIB and MVA benefits where applicable.

Can I see a chiropractor during pregnancy?

Yes — chiropractic is widely used in pregnancy for low-back pain, pelvic girdle pain, and sciatica caused by postural shifts. We use modified techniques, pregnancy-friendly positioning, and supportive pillows to keep you comfortable throughout. Many patients also continue care postpartum as the body recovers from delivery.

Will I have to keep coming back forever?

No. Care has a beginning, a middle, and an end. We treat what brought you in, prescribe exercises so changes hold, then discharge you. Some patients choose periodic maintenance check-ins — especially those with desk jobs or high training loads — but it's always your choice and never a requirement.
